Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary function of this position is to provide meaningful, personalized support for individuals in their home and community. Successful applicants will be physically capable of performing safe transferring techniques and participating in all aspects of recreation and leisure activities (e.g. swimming).

Qualifications & Experience:
CSCL is seeking candidates with experience and/or training in the following areas:

Community Living Support
The successful applicant will have relevant post-secondary education and/or experience in supporting individuals with varying degrees of developmental and physical disabilities. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of current issues and practices, human values in delivery of service, and a strong ability to plan and work independently while actively involving individuals in this process. A positive and pleasant work attitude, effective communication skills and the ability to relate positively to the public are essential.

Must possess a Class 5 Driver’s License and be willing to obtain a valid BC Class 4 Driver’s License (Class 7 Driver’s licenses may be accepted) Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification, Caring About Food Safety and be able to meet all other CSCL employment criteria (e.g.: Criminal Record Check, Doctor’s Certificate of Good Health)

Mental Health Support
The successful applicant will have relevant post-secondary education and/or outreach experience. Candidates should also have experience in supporting individuals with varying degrees of developmental and physical disabilities, mental health issues and who may present high-risk and aggressive behaviours.

Must possess a Class 5 Driver’s License and be willing to obtain a valid BC Class 4 Driver’s License (Class 7 Driver’s licenses may be accepted) Must be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification, Caring About Food Safety and be able to meet all other CSCL employment criteria (e.g.: Criminal Record Check, Doctor’s Certificate of Good Health)

Health Care

Shifts/Schedule:
On Call/Casual - Must be available for shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Casual positions have the possibility of leading to part-time or full-time positions.

Compensation:
As per Community Social Services Collective Agreement ($20.52 - $23.90 per hour).
Benefits include Extended Health and Dental as well as participation in the Municipal Pension Plan, when eligible.

This position requires Union membership (BCGEU).
