The Coordinator, Communications and Marketing, participates in the development of communication and marketing strategies which aim to increase the profile of SFU's Faculty of Health Sciences by managing all aspects of the development and publication process for communications and marketing materials, both print and web based; developing and implementing effective online communications strategies which include web, email, and social media, while managing online content management systems; coordinates communications and public relations activities for the Faculty by developing promotional materials; liaising with Public Affairs and Media Relations; and planning activities to support community engagement and the recruitment of students to the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the Faculty. The Coordinator conceptualizes and organizes events, research seminars and conferences for the Faculty including alumni and Advancement projects that help to raise the public profile and support the objectives of the Faculty. The incumbent works in collaboration with the Coordinator, Recruitment, Retention and Engagement, Director of Advancement, Grants Facilitator, and Coordinator, Public Health Programs.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, with four years of related experience in the design, planning, and execution of marketing/communication plans, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Excellent knowledge of communication, media, public relations, promotion, and marketing principles, practices and strategies using print and electronic media.
Excellent knowledge of current social media applications (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
Excellent knowledge of website development, online content management systems, social media dashboards, and performance measurement tools (i.e. Google Analytics) for various online communication and marketing purposes.
Excellent copywriting, copyediting, research, report writing, and strategic planning skills.
Excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Good event management skills.
Ability to use, edit, and publish digital photography and videography.
Ability to adapt writing style for various audiences.
Ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with others.
Ability to lead, coordinate, and mentor teams and individuals.
Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and work on a number of different initiatives concurrently.
Proficient in the use of standard word processing and database applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
