Information Security Architect

On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Information Security Architect for a 6 month contract in Winnipeg, MB.

Information Security Architect Responsibilities

Manages the process of planning, engineering, acquiring, building, modifying and deploying security technologies to support the organization’s business activities.
High level structure and behavior of applications and infrastructure services used by the business processes of the organization, focusing on how they interact with technology infrastructure, other applications and services as well as with users.
linking information technology decision making and investments with the organization’s technology and business strategy.
Provides specialized technical advice and contributes to decisions on information technology policies, principles, services, standards, guidelines and common solutions for the betterment of the organization.
On projects, the Information Security Architect is responsible for leading the overall technical solution design in support of MPI’s business objectives.

Architecture and Engineering Services Performed:
Designs security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge, creating solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements.
Identifies security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommends changes or enhancements.
Aligns security standards, frameworks and security services with the overall business and technology strategy.
Determines security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements.
Conducts system security and vulnerability analysis and risk assessments, identifies integration issues, and provides cost estimates
Plans, designs and engineers security solutions and services by evaluating security technologies, develops requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related network security devices.
Designs public key infrastructures (PKIs), including use of certification authorities (CAs) and digital signatures as well as hardware and software as mandated by MPI policies and standards.
Governs the technical solution to fit the business needs and describes optimal solutions in terms of cost effectiveness, scalability, security and future positioning which are aligned with the organization’s overall technology and security strategies, and consistent with the organization’s technology environment.
Supports the implementation of security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures.
Facilitates effective communication between business stakeholders and technology resources.
Translates complex business information into simple, clear and accurate language to ensure understanding by business stakeholders and technical resources.
Validates technology solutions prior to implementation to ensure that the solutions are stable, integrate properly with the organization’s existing technology footprint, and fulfil their intended function. Oversees modifications, as required.
Develops plans which will facilitate business continuity and rapid recovery in the event of technology failure.
Ensures technology solutions are documented according to the organization’s policies and practices, including models and other architecture documents.
Participates in the development and review of Statement of Work documents, Project Charters, Requirements documents, Business Cases, Project Plans and Schedules.
Provides input into corporate program and project budgets and strategic plans for corporate system releases and implementation.
Provides third-level support for production and project issues.

Information Security Architect Mandatory Skills

10+ years in IT and 4+ years in security and risk management
Experience with SABSA and/or TOGAF infastructure architecture and data architecture principles
Knowledge of security controls

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
University degree in Computer Science
Ten years of progressive experience in security architecture.
Completion of one or more of the following Information security management professional designations is preferred:
TOGAF 9 Foundation
SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Practitioner Certificate (SCP)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
or other information security credentials
OR
Two year diploma in Computers from a Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) accredited Community College.
Twelve years of progressive experience in security architecture.
Completion of one or more of the following Information security management professional designations is preferred:
TOGAF 9 Foundation
SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Practitioner Certificate (SCP)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
