We are looking for an Intellectual Property Associate to join our Intellectual Property Team who will draft and prosecute patent applications, train employees in IP-related matters, perform patent searches (patentability and non-infringement), and analyze competitor’s patents (including preliminary non-infringement and invalidity opinions).
Snapshot of Responsibilities:
Draft and prosecute patent applications in the United States and other jurisdictions worldwide
Search patents and applications to support clearance activities and competitor analysis
Maintain and develop internal frameworks to ensure good intellectual property habits and processes
Liaise with internal departments and customers for intellectual property related matters
Conduct in-house intellectual property training
Keep up-to-date with world-wide legislation and regulation
Undertake special assignments
What you bring to the team:
A Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Science or similar and LL.B or J.D or similar
Previous experience in IP litigation and/or a strong, demonstrated interest in the field of IP litigation
Registered Canadian or US patent agent is an asset
Prior experience in patent drafting and prosecution is an asset.
Experience in medical devices is an asset.
Excellent analytical skills
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
