What is the opportunity?
As a Manager in the Reporting COE (Centre of Excellence), you will apply your passion for data analysis and report development to transforming business needs into visual and numerical representations from which insights emerge and plans to action are taken. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Manager, Reporting Visualization & Insights to ensure alignment with strategic priorities, and with clients across Canadian Banking Operations (from Credit Adjudication and Collections, to Card Operations and Banking Operations, and Business Risk Monitoring & Solutions). You will be responsible for the end to end delivery of comprehensive reporting solutions which help optimize business results from an operational and employee performance perspective and to inform decisions of senior leadership across Canadian Banking Operations.
What will you do?
Design and develop innovative reporting solutions which are both tactical and strategic to monitor operational performance, present key analytical and business insights to underlying drivers, and support leaders in managing operations and identifying opportunities to deliver operational efficiencies and drive an exceptional client experience.
Apply standard design principles and advanced data visualization techniques to measure key indicators, disclose trends, provide proactive actionable insights/indicators and address business questions.
Identify appropriate data sources and perform ETL for data modelling, data quality assessments, understand patterns and provide the basis to inform the reporting solution which provides meaningful operational insights.
Participate in conversations with internal partners to understand their business processes and objectives in order to define/recommend reporting solutions to meet those objectives, effectively communicate project status and develop relationships to ensure satisfaction.
Participate in design and solution review demonstrations with the Senior Manager and/or internal partners at critical tollgates to ensure adherence to requirements, resolve obstacles, while mitigating deployment risk and the need for post-deployment modifications,
Test and validate (QA) new and existing reports and analytics for adherence to business and technical requirements
Create and maintain accurate documentation related to reporting solutions, including data lineage, technical and business definitions for metrics, and reporting processes.
Be a thought partner within the Reporting COE team, supporting the developments of insights, processes, and information that is valued by partners across Canadian Banking Operations.
What do you need to succeed?
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, related field or equivalent related experience.
Demonstrated ETL and data modeling capabilities, and programming experience with large databases/datasets (using tools such as SAS, WebFocus, SQL Server, Datameer, and Teradata SQL Assistant).
Advanced proficiency in developing reports using data visualization tools (most notably Tableau).
Experience conducting data analysis as a foundation to providing meaningful insights and reporting that facilitates management of day to day operations and informs strategic decisions at a senior management/executive level.
Proven quantitative analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Understanding of retail and commercial banking.
Knowledge of RBC databases and RBC data warehouse environment.
Experience working with big data platforms such as Hadoop
