Unit Summary

The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Regional Cancer Program (RCP) oversees the organized delivery of high quality cancer services from prevention to palliative care for the counties of Brant, Burlington, Haldimand, Hamilton, Niagara and Norfolk. The HNHB RCP works in partnership with all hospitals, organizations, agencies and key stakeholders in the region to provide cancer services to the 1.3 million people living in the HNHB region. The unit oversees Regional Cancer Programs including Prevention; Integrated Cancer Screening; Indigenous Cancer Care; Patient Education and Person-Centred Care, as well as Breast Assessment Centre, Colposcopy, Genetics and Mobile Coach ambulatory clinics.

Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative and secretarial support to Managers within the Regional Cancer Program. In addition, the Assistant will support administrative duties related to the administration and completion of deliverables for Regional Cancer Programs. The Assistant will need to develop and maintain good working relationships with all internal, community and regional partners. There would the expectation that the Assistant would attend meetings for the purpose of taking and maintaining minutes. The Assistant is responsible for calendar management; coordination of meetings and multiple regional Networks, including the Patient and Family Advisory Council; assistance with budget preparation and completion of purchase orders and radiology billings; completion HR processes such as recruitment and payroll; and data entry duties as required.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday-Friday days with flexibility to occasional accommodate travel to regional meetings scheduled during off-hours

Qualifications

Graduate of community college business secretarial program or equivalent education and/or experience
Proficient keyboarding skills - 70 wpm (subject to testing)
Demonstrated proficient computer skills in MS Office Products, Meditech, Management Information Systems, Kronos, Taleo, myHR
Experience in MOSAIQ would be considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to create and maintain and generate reports from various databases
Excellent meeting coordination and minute-taking skills
Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and interpersonal skills within a professional environment
Demonstrated ability to work independently and establish priorities
Demonstrated ability to meet project and task deadlines
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated nature to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
