Job Summary

The ISG Platform team is looking for an Infrastructure Technical Specialist role to design, develop and support technology solutions for cloud-based environments. This role will require a true team player who is willing to help us get the most out of our investments in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and or on-premise systems. This will include automated, auditable configurations and reports from these systems to microservice based integrations between our various systems. We expect this individual to have as much passion for test automation of all kinds as they do for building amazing solutions. The role will help the team on their continuous improvement journey, striving for technical excellence and automate wherever possible.

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative thinker who can take ownership beyond their existing comfort zone and domain of expertise. The ideal candidate will join an Agile cross-functional team responsible for: Data Center Infrastructure (compute, storage), Networking, Identity and Access Management and Core Services such as backups and monitoring.

What you will do:
Work as a member of an Agile cross-functional core infrastructure team while collaborating with various customers and stakeholders from the business and IT teams.

Install and configure Windows systems and servers and maintain multi-forest Active Directory in cloud environments.
Build server back-end architecture, including databases and scripts for specific applications and user needs. Manage Microsoft Group Policy across multiple domains.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support and guidance to users and other administrators related to AWS and Microsoft Windows systems operations.
Work closely with IT and Development teams and professionals to answer technical questions or resolve issues with server performance and access.
Conduct system maintenance activities, review error logs and user-reported errors and identify stable and reliable solutions.
Monitor performance to reduce interruptions and server crashes. This can involve monitoring daily traffic logs and reports or working directly with end users.
Automate Windows server builds in AWS using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Windows PowerShell, Python, AWS CloudFormation, Microsoft Azure DevOps or similar DevOps tools.
Perform system backups according to HOOPP's IT standards and retention policy. This helps to ensure that the system can be quickly recovered after a crash or other outage and supports data integrity by ensuring that vital information is not lost during an outage.
Support AWS service operational activities
Interface with internal business partners to gather requirements, design and implement solutions, manage technical operations, triage and fix operational issues
Work with internal HOOPP architecture, infrastructure, governance, and security teams to ensure that all security, governance, and business continuity requirements are met
Collaborate with vendor and support the scheduling of upgrades
Continuously improve the triage and escalation process for system availability
Improve system optimization through measurement and reporting of system performance
Design monitoring services for systems with a goal of minimizing down time
Plan and perform quarterly Windows patching of all environments as well as emergency out-of-band critical patch installs using industry tools and practices.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response and escalations.
Experience in developing and maintaining documentation and wiki for multiple environments
Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technology trends and best practices for cloud site reliability engineering.

Who you are:
5+ years of diverse, broad experience in IT infrastructure Operations with some development/ automation experience

Must Have: (Intermediate to senior Infrastructure Operations Knowledge in one or multiple areas)

Seasoned Microsoft Windows Server admin (Server 2012R2, 2016 and 2019)
Identity and Access Management (Active Directory/Azure AD, Centrify/Ping, ADFS, etc.)
Hands-on operations experience with cloud platforms or ability to learn within a short period of time (AWS)
Health and Monitoring Systems (SNMP, Syslog, Splunk, DataDog, IPMonitor, Solarwinds or similar)
Networking (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, etc)
Windows Server lifecycle from deployment, support, escalation and decommissioning
Data Protection: NetBackup, DR replication, AWS Backup/DLM services
Microsoft PKI and Certificate Management
Windows PowerShell, Python, Bash or other mainstream scripting language
Strong troubleshooting abilities to resolve systems and network issues
College or University degree in the field of computer science and/or equivalent work experience

Some or growing experience with the following:
DevOps Automation tools like Python, Microsoft Azure DevOps, AWS services (System Manager, Cloud Formation, Code Commit), etc.
Cloud based, server-less or micro service based architectures (AWS or Azure)
AWS certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator)
Comprehensive understanding of key technological concepts such as IT architecture, cloud technologies, applications, network infrastructure, and security.
High enthusiasm with a sense of urgency to get things done
Demonstrated solid analysis and troubleshooting skills
Be a self-starter with the ability to work in a cross functional team-based environment
Ability to embrace fluidity and ambiguity and quickly adapt to change
Ability to effectively communicate, lead and influence with stakeholders and fellow team members
Ability and willingness to teach skills to other members in the team
Ability and desire to learn different skills outside of their domain of expertise
Understand Agile/Lean principles such as SCRUM, Kanban, MVP etc. and a desire to work within these principles
Ability to manage / prioritize multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously
Ability to work in an autonomous and self-regulated team-based environment without focusing on individual glory
Ability to balance value in delivery against standard practices and processes
Ability to think “big picture” for architecture and to develop long-term solutions
