Butterfield is currently hiring an Accounting Administrator to join our team in Halifax, NS.

Reporting to the Halifax Accounting Manager, the Accounting Administrator is responsible for various accounting and administrative processes for the Halifax office, as well as assisting the Halifax Finance team with ad hoc requests on behalf of the Butterfield Group.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:
administering the end-to-end Accounts Payable process in accordance with approved procedures and controls, and ensuring appropriate documentation is obtained with required approval
reconciling vendor statements, researching and resolving discrepancies
preparing month-end reconciliation of bank accounts to the General Ledger and maintaining the cheque register
liaising with management, vendors and other departments for invoice payments and issue resolution
assisting with administration and maintenance activities for the Group Finance planning and forecasting system
assisting with the development of documentation of local and Group Finance processes, procedures and policies
processing financial and administrative transactions and postings with a high degree of accuracy
demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet very stringent deadlines
assisting with various ad hoc requests from Halifax Finance team members
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

post-secondary education in Business Administration or related discipline and/or five years of relevant experience
strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
strong attention to detail with high ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks in a busy work environment
demonstrates customer service and relationship management skills
knowledge of accounting standards and systems and a willingness to continue learning
proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
ability to problem solve within the day-to-day environment, using systems and a high standard of detail to process transactions
