The Unit Manager position will primarily support the inpatient units of the Geriatric Rehabilitation Program including Specialized Geriatrics, Geriatric Psychiatry and Cognitive Behavioural Program.
The Unit Manager is responsible for providing interprofessional clinical leadership and operational management for the Geriatric Rehabilitation program. Activities are achieved through a presence and visibility on the units. Through clinical leadership, mentoring, coaching and performance management of staff, the Unit Manager ensures high quality patient care. This role is responsible to coach team members to achieve comprehensive and integrated care, critically assess, evaluate, anticipate, address risks to patient, and staff safety. This role leads the implementation of provincial, zone and local clinical and operational priorities at the unit level. It is expected that the Unit Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Accountable for the implementation and sustainability of collaborative care and appropriate scope of practice in clinical operations that support care, high-performing teams, quality management processes, collaborative practice including all health/support disciplines and safe care/work environments. Responsible to coach, mentor and lead team members in the delivery of quality care and clinical quality improvements. Be able to effectively respond according to the Emergency Preparedness Guidelines and protocols. Resource utilization will be relevant, efficient and effective.

Graduate of a recognized School of Nursing required. 1-2 years related management or leadership experience required. BLS (Heart and Stroke) required. Active registration with professional body required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. AHS leaders Courses is an asset. 3-4 years current clinical experience in healthcare is preferred. Other Health care Professional recognized graduate preferred. Clinical geriatric experience or CNA designation in Geriatrics is preferred.
