The Canadian Gas Operations, Technical Support Technology and Optimization Team is seeking a Senior Technology Development Engineer for a permanent position working in TC Energy’s Calgary office. We are looking for an experienced, focused and motivated professional with technology development and evaluation expertise. TC Energy’s Technology and Optimization Team manages multiple R&D projects related to In-Line Inspection (ILI), Non- Destructive Evaluation (NDE), repair and surveillance technology development and improvement for the safe and reliable operation of our pipeline assets located in Canada, United States and Mexico.
The successful candidate will be a member of a disputing, fast pace and dynamic work environment, collaborating with other Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) both within the company and externally to ensure the safety and compliance of our pipeline system while supporting the optimization of its utilization.
What you’ll do:
Provide leadership in an effort to identify, deploy and support "right-fit" technology for pipeline applications
Consult with internal stakeholders to improve existing integrity management procedures and programs
Actively participate and influence industry organizations (such as PRCI) focused on evolving ILI, NDE, repair, surveillance technologies (in, on and above the pipeline) and assessment methods/methodologies and regulations (API 1163, API 1176, API 1183)
Evaluate new and existing technologies and work on strategies to implement them for both new and operational assets
Provide direction for the evaluation of ILI and NDE assessment to identify improvement opportunities
QA/Audit ILI data as required (all ILI technologies)
Work with ILI vendors to improve technology platforms
Support development of internal and industry standards related to ILI technologies
Participate in industry R&D projects involving TC Energy (PRCI, JIPs) and
Participate in industry groups/committees/workshops
Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline preferably Mechanical, with 8 years of relevant experience
Thorough understanding of threats to pipeline integrity
Participated in industry groups that promote the advancement of pipeline integrity management such as PRCI, CEPA, and INGAA
Hands on experience with ILI and NDE of pipelines
Sound scientific method of gathering, assessing and reporting on data
Ability to critically assess technology capabilities, evaluation methods and techniques
Understanding of ILI tools, NDE technologies and processes, operation and maintenance of pipeline systems
Ability to plan, manage and prioritize multiple projects
Application support and/or problem resolution in time-critical situations
Self-motivated individual with excellent work ethics and strong desire to learn and develop
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to work effectively in small and large teams and
Innovative with strong analytical and computer skills and a “can-do” attitude on problem solving
