Permanent full-time position-35 hours/week

Under the direction of the Primary Health Services Director, the Bilingual Dental Assistant, provides fulsome support and assistance to the Dental Hygienist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist Hygienist and other providers with procedures and charting as necessary
Review the Hygienist's schedule and help organize patient flow throughout the day
Review patient chart prior to Hygienist’s arrival and anticipate the Hygienist’s needs for each patient
Set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines
Perform efficient and accurate procedures to help maintain Hygienist's schedule and patient flow
Provide excellent customer service to help ensure a smooth and comfortable visit for the patient
Prepare, take down and clean patient room before/ after treatment
Assist the Hygienist in the preparation of individualized dental hygiene plans
Routinely sterilize, clean instruments and the room after each patient and at the end of the day
Maintain electronic patient records
Assist the Hygienist in workshops on oral hygiene principles and promotional activities presented at the CSC and in the community
Adhere to confidentiality, laws and guidelines with regards to patient records (e.g. PHIPA)
Ensure treatment areas are fully stocked
Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

College diploma or equivalent
Registered Dental Assistant Certificate
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Computer skills and the ability to learn new programs as required

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Be willing to work flexible hours to meet patient needs
Have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver's license
Provide a criminal record check for work with vulnerable persons.
