Job Description

We’re looking for creative, passionate individuals to develop and maintain our Trust Assurance documentation that serves a growing team of developers, project managers, and support staff. The Trust Assurance team is responsible for the processes, and policies that support Shopify’s compliance programs including PCI, SOC 2, SOX, and SWIFT.

Our technical writers love to dig into new tools and processes to learn how they work, and they channel that knowledge to create technical documents, tutorials, and reference guides. They work closely with other Shopify employees to identify ways to expand and improve our internal documentation so that every role has the information they need to excel.

You’ll be working on:
Documenting systems, processes, and policies that support Shopify’s compliance programs including PCI, SOC 2, SOX, and SWIFT.

Maintaining the documentation infrastructure, including micro-sites and documentation generation scripts.

Helping define and implement content strategy for the team.

Contributing thoughts and experiences to help leadership make decisions that have an impact at various levels inside and outside of Shopify.

Building relationships across Shopify's internal and external facing teams.

Crushing documentation bugs, correcting errors, and improving problematic content, all with reference to our documentation style guide.

Participating fully in the life of the team, taking part in discussions, debates, and meetings.

Mentoring team members at various skill levels.

Championing projects that have a high degree of complexity with many stakeholders throughout Shopify.

Learning a ton of new skills and sharing your own.

Qualifications

Strong writing skills based on past experience in writing or editing technical documentation.

Ability to translate complicated technical topics into consistent, easily understandable information for internal and external end-users.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Well-versed in building and managing a network of subject matter experts.

Strong writing skills based on past experience in a writing or editorial role.

Experience in managing projects.

A deep interest in the different ways that people discover and process information.

High standards, an obsessive eye for detail, and a strong sense of ownership.

A track record of delivering documentation in a fast-paced environment where requirements and scope can change quickly.

It’s a bonus if you have:
Knowledge of compliance standards such as PCI, SOX, SOC 2, and SWIFT.

Experience working with a programming language like Ruby, or Pandoc.

Experience working with version control software such as Git.
