The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner (ICP) promotes excellence in infection prevention and control practice and education, through the application of clinical skills combined with specialized infection prevention control practice and knowledge; within a patient and family centered care model.
The ICP utilizes risk management and continuous improvement methodologies in leading programs and providing expert advice. Acting as a specialty education resource with a wide ranging client base including; patients, physicians, nurses, health care leaders and health services. The ICP provides consultation, collaboration, advocacy and teaching in infection prevention and health promotion best practice and epidemiological principles.
This is a term specific full time position until March 31, 2022. This position is located at a P3 site, Heritage Square.
Hours of work are rotating 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday.

Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Three (3) years’ recent related clinical experience in an acute or community setting, which includes two (2) years’ recent experience working directly with infection control processes (such as, outbreak management, surveillance, routine practices and additional precautions) and activities such as research, adult learner instructional design, facilitation of work teams/projects and quality improvement initiatives.
Completion of a recognized infection control course (such as, IPAC Canada Novice, UBC Basic IPAC, Queens Basic IPAC, Centennial College Basic IPAC) or Certification in Infection Control (CIC®).
Valid Class 5 vehicle license required.
