Job Description:
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator will be the primary coordinator for the patient care that is delivered in the Emergency Department in collaboration with the ED leadership team. Enabling and role modeling teamwork, communication, autonomous clinical practice and a drive towards continuous improvement, the individual will work alongside the interprofessional team to champion the identification of quality initiatives aimed at optimizing the patient experience, improving patient flow and achieving quality patient outcomes.

In collaboration with the Manager, Emergency Department, the Clinical Coordinator will provide effective leadership for the people in the department. Working in the Emergency Department alongside staff and physicians the individual will be responsible for assisting with daily huddles, communicating change ideas and sustaining quality initiatives to meet the program goals and objectives.

This position will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, implement and sustain best practices to improve quality of care and efficiencies.

Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required

ENC(c) preferred

Current ACLS, TNCC, ENPC or PALS preferred

3 - 5 years current or recent Emergency Nursing experience

1 – 2 years leadership experience preferred

Previous project management experience and participation in process improvement initiatives preferred

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Project Management skills including facilitation skills preferred

Leadership ability

Ability to problem solve clinical issues with the support of the manager

Ability to collaborate with all members of the interprofessional team

Capability to coach, mentor and provide constructive feedback within a positive culture

Working knowledge and understanding of Patient Information systems (i.e. Meditech)

Ability to learn about, from and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care
