Straticom is seeking a creative and highly motivated Intermediate Designer to join our growing Healthcare team. This individual will report directly to the Senior Team Lead and be involved in all phases of the design process from concept and space planning to project closeout. You will actively build client relationships while managing design requests and will coordinate with all consultants to ensure project deliverables are met. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Project Team. Support Senior Designer and mentor/advise Junior staff
  • Independently manage smaller projects with guidance as needed
  • Understand and implement the Client’s goals and needs into space planning
  • Lead design concept development, material and finishes selection
  • Source and research furniture solutions conducive to healthcare environments
  • Attend and present design solutions at Client meetings
  • Actively participate in site verifications. Oversee drawing updates
  • Produce construction contract documents including plans, elevations, millwork, details, schedules and specifications
  • Revise design documents throughout project timeframe
  • Prepare and submit permit applications. Coordinate with City officials
  • Coordinate with consultants, suppliers and other external stakeholders
  • Build strong client relationships
  • Involved in the construction administration phase through to close out (ex. RFI’s, CCN’s, permit revisions, site meetings, shop drawing review, deficiency walkthrough, meeting minutes)
  • Liaison between Client and Contractor
  • Provide feedback on processes and internal procedures. Propose new ideas

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Interior Design or related field
  • 5-7 years of interiors experience (a portion within healthcare sector preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in design and technical production drawings
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills. Proactive and forward thinking
  • Effective communication both verbally and written. Clear and concise.
  • Knowledge of furniture, fixtures and equipment appropriate for Healthcare
  • Knowledge of industry trends, construction methodology, and material application
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (particularly Barrier Free Design), sustainability guidelines, Biophilic Design, LEED and WELL programs
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (minimum 2014), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp (including Shaderlight, Podium plug-in’s), 3Ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign and other graphic software an asset
  • Professional work ethic
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $60,000.00 /year
