Seeking Millwork Detailer - Intermediate Level

Reports to: Detailing Manager/Lead

Must have at 2 years experience with Auto Cad

Must have 2+ years experience with Mill work detailing

Some Micro vellum software experience is preferred


The Project Detailer is responsible for the full cycle of drafting and detailing of architectural drawings according to plans and specifications.


  • Develop Micro vellum based shop drawings based on contractual documentation adhering to written specifications provided; schedules, PSOS, AWMAC, AWI etc. which meet and exceed the customer’s requirement.
  • Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation

Main Duties

  • Review and follow plans as per turn over documents. Upon review of submittal drawings against contract requirements, advise Project Manager, Lead or Manager on cost or schedule impacts – before making revisions.
  • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes & update drawings as per red lines and site dimensions
  • Utilize Crow’s Nest for new project assignments (upload files, assign tasks, submit to PM)
  • Work closely with Project Manager and Shop Lead Hand to ensure adherence to plans and specs and be available for drawing interpretation as needed
  • Release drawing packages for fabrication to Detailing Lead
  • Provide production data for machine operators which includes and not limited to CNC programs, and cut list with the given deadlines
  • Work closely with Machining Operators and Projects Department to explain details
  • Print Production documents as needed
  • Use Microvellum, and Auto CAD to produce shop drawings
  • Use Solidworks/SWOOD for 5 axis related products

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High attention to detail
  • Extensive knowledge of AWMAC, AWI and other applicable millwork standards within the architectural and retail fabrication industry
  • Must have construction assembly knowledge as it pertains to cabinetry
  • Shop level work and/or cabinet making experience is a key asset
  • Ability to co-ordinate task planning, adhere to scheduling, adapt to changes with accurate record keeping

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be proficient in drafting within: Microvellum (required 1 year+)
  • AutoCAD (preferred), Solidworks and SWOOD (are an asset)
  • Able to produce shop drawings detailed for fabrication
  • Experience in millwork detailing for large scale projects (2 years+)
  • Must be well versed in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to use Solidworks/SWOOD is an asset
  • Capable in creating cut lists and material take offs is an asset


University Degree or Trade School Diploma in a related subject

Trade Certificate in Millwork an asset
