What You Will Do:
Reporting to and working with the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial and external reporting aspects of the organization and ensuring the strategic direction of the finance function supports Bethany’s mission, vision and values.

Individual responsibilities will fall under the following main areas of focus:

Direct all accounting operations of the organization including periodic financial reports, budgeting, and transactions related to all bank, and related party financial reporting
Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Review and evaluate accounting team structure and systems to support operational and business goals and to meet the needs and objectives of a growing organization
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
Ensure all fund accountabilities are actively managed and variances actioned
Guide the cash management and risk management of the company including monitoring of debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Responsible for coordination and execution of effective and efficient year-end audits with external accountants including coordination of interim review activities
Participating in Finance and Audit committee meetings

What You Bring:
CPA, CA designation required.
Undergraduate degree in finance or related discipline.
10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least five years at a leadership level.
Strong technical skills in accounting, including planning, budgeting, financial reporting (MD&A), tax and regulatory compliance and treasury management;
Proven ability to manage a finance team of 10 or more;
Ability to continuously improve and maintain financial processes, policies and systems and oversee annual external audits in a dynamic organization;
Preferred background in organizations with multi-site operations and decentralized accountabilities;
Experience with healthcare, housing and/or hospitality would be considered an asset;
Understanding of fund accounting and trust relationship with donors would be considered an asset;
Experience working with a variety of lenders and donors to ensuring financing in order to optimize operations and to support growth opportunities through the development of new facilities and/or programs;
Experience with software or ERP implementations, in close proximity to IT, would be considered an asset;
Excellent communication skills written and oral. Ability to communicate issues clearly, diplomatically and succinctly;
Hands-on, roll-up your sleeves management style able to develop people, define clear realistic expectations, and lead accordingly (lead by example);
Customer focused leadership and management style ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with peers and co-workers;
Responsible and dedicated to ensuring organizational matters are dealt with professionally and proactively; and
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
