FINANCIAL CLERK

Seeking an experienced Financial Clerk (FC) for a position located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The FC is responsible for due diligence on processing accounts payable invoices in a timely and accurate manner. Performing data entry and other clerical duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems.

The FC is proactive in communicating with Managing Lawyers and staff in the service offices to ensure effective financial oversight. The FC is an integral part of the finance team who works with and supports other members.

Ideal Abilities and Skills

  • Minimum 2 year post-secondary professional accounting training plus 2 years related experience or an acceptable equivalent of training combined with experience.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts (payable, receivable, prepaids) (GAAP).
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, accounting and financial programs, Sage 300 would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with personal computers including knowledge and facility with Microsoft Office programs.
  • The FC must be able to perform administrative support duties.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational skills, and a capacity to work under pressure of deadlines and multiple competing priorities.
