Here’s our deal.

Retail is at a turning point. The wholesale industry is a trillion-dollar market split between 1.2MM retailers. In the past, the market had been dominated by big-box stores, largely selling the same products from the same national brands – but the consumer has changed.

Today, consumers are purchasing smaller, independent brands that are healthier, more environmentally friendly, more ethical. Consumers have moved their spending to independent retailers (both online and offline) who they share values with, and who provide the best curated selections of craft brands.

This is where Hubba comes in. We’re a marketplace that allows independent retailers to purchase products directly from the planet’s hottest craft brands to carry on their store shelves. We use a combination of machine learning and personal curation to match these retailers with their next best seller.

Here’s what the role’s about.

The success of our business is largely dependent on bringing in high quality retailers to make purchases – not just as a one-off/single purchase, but continually over the long-term. We pride ourselves on having the best brands (proven by data) on the planet and our best measure of success is whether these brands perform for our customers – and whether they place additional orders. This means:

Testing and iterating on approaches to gain new users/purchasers – you’ll develop concepts first-hand, proving their viability.
You’ll scale out approaches that show to be successful – either first-hand, rolling into our ongoing sales & marketing team processes, or through third parties/partners.
Directing our paid digital spend and approach – you’ll create, iterate on, and optimize a plan to identify the right mix, channels, and strategy.
Developing and managing third-party/partner relationships to help us scale – be it agencies, street teams, or industry partners; you’ll own the relationships that accelerate our growth.

How the reporting structure works:
Reports to the Director, Sales & Marketing; individual contributor role.

Here’s what you need to be successful.

You have a thorough understanding of performance marketing (be it SEM, social, or display), and have an applied understanding of SEO – you can functionally execute and optimize campaigns across a variety of digital channels.
You execute first-hand – You can point to examples of where you’ve created campaigns, ad groups, social programs, call blitzes, etc. to get things done yourself (without relying on agencies).
You’ve dealt with customers and partners directly – You’re comfortable speaking directly with them and have an innate skill of asking “why?” to get to the root of problems.
You are data-driven – you can speak to practical examples and your methodologies/processes for attributing outcomes to campaign results and making decisions based on data.
You have demonstrated experience collaborating cross-functionally – you’ve worked with teammates across product, sales, operations, etc. to get things done.

Bonus points for, but not necessary:
You have practical expertise in unpaid digital – SEO, email marketing, social media/content.
You have experience in the retail sector and/or marketplaces.
You have practical SQL skills.

You’ll be surrounded and supported by some amazing people who are light on ego, high on curiosity, and are passionate about changing retail for the better. The senior leadership are grown ups who have built things before and are building a business, not a frat house or summer camp.
