EPCOR has one (1) full-time permanent position available.
As part of EPCOR Technologies, the Engineering group provides design, consulting and advisory services for the electrical components of the distribution and transportation infrastructure. We are looking for a highly motivated Engineering Technologist to join our group and become a successful contributor in the services we provide.
Reporting to the Manager, Distribution Design, the Technologist, Engineering is accountable for, but not limited to:
Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics that include:
meeting budget and schedule requirements of all projects
meeting customer expectations
Assisting with collecting and analyzing technical and other necessary information to propose solutions to project related issues throughout the project.
Preparing, reviewing and marking for changes on UMA.
Obtaining or assisting in obtaining relevant permits for construction, such as ULA or facility crossing agreements etc.
Interpreting as-built drawings, and maintaining both graphic and non-graphic information.
Reviewing design and drafting standards, templates, and proposing relevant changes.
Preparing design and construction packages for Distribution design projects.
Reviewing third-party electrical and other engineering plans to ensure compliance with EPCOR’s standards, polices and guidelines.
Demonstrating a high performance, highly disciplined, achievement-oriented, safety-conscious manner of working.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Successful completion of a technical diploma in Electrical or Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized Post-Secondary institute.
Eligible for registration as a Technologist with A.S.E.T.
Minimum 0-3 years of directly related work experience.
Experience in utility distribution design will be considered an asset.
Experience in Electric Office and IVARA will be considered an asset.
Experience in roadway lighting, traffic control systems, ITS, power distribution or fiber optic wiring design and construction would be considered an asset.
Working knowledge in Microstation and Electric Office GIS software.
Able to perform calculations for designs and set guidelines for drafting.
The successful candidate must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as well as the capability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities, as required with ease. Other competencies required to be successful in this role include a demonstrated track record of displaying initiative and effective analytical and decision-making skills in utilizing resources and solving technical challenges. In addition, the successful applicant must be able to work effectively within cross-functional teams, be adept at building relationships with various and diverse stakeholders and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Wage: $36.10 - $43.08 per hour
Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
