Detailed job description

The Manufacturing Program Manager is responsible for the management of, and coordination related to, all projects in manufacturing from contract award through fabrication to final acceptance by the customer. Working with the Manufacturing Manager, the Project Managers and all support functions, the Program Manager ensures we meet our internal and external customer commitments.

Manages assigned projects from release of BOM and drawings by engineering, through sourcing and fabrication, within budget and and on schedule, and in compliance with the contract obligations.
Develops the general and detailed planning and coordinates the activities across all departments required to meet established contractual and financial project objectives;
In collaboration with the Department Managers and the relevant Project Manager, analyzes, defines and implements a contingency plan to correct any failure or inadequacy that can have a direct impact on the results of the project (costs, deadlines, quality…);
Organizes team meetings, prepares the minutes and defines the actions for the team during the entire duration of the procurement and fabrication phase of the project;
Notifies the Project Manager of any events which may lead to a customer change order request or claim ;
Remains fully aware of the status and issues on all projects, analyzes and presents such updates in accordance with established internal procedures, during the scheduled monthly and quarterly project reviews with management;
Performs a risk & opportunity evaluation and details the possible financial & schedule variances with regard to the established objectives while proposing and implementing contingency plans to avert the identifeid risks;
In accordance with our Project Controls procedures, develops project forecast at completion and variance mitigation plans;
Follows-up and expedites as necessary critical path predecessors, such as design or procurement or production planning, to ensure timely start and completions to ensure on-time final delivery of the fabricated product.
Ensures all departments have the tools, materials, documentation, equipment and product to complete project;

Candidate's profile

Mechanical or Civil Engineer or Technologist or equivalent experience;
Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of large or heavy metal fabrication, and related design and manufacturing activities;
Proven experience and accomplishments related to the efficient management of projects with a dynamic and accelerated schedule;
Strong experience in program risk management and adherence to financial objectives;
Proven leadership and team spirit, innovative;
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines;
Professionalism and tact in representing the company to our internal and external customers;
Strong customer service orientation;
Values quality and a safe work environment;
Strong working knowledge of MS Office; MS Project, Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;
Availability to travel, as necessary.

Other Skills/Abilities

Program Managers work a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones.
