What We Expect You To Do:

  • To report to the Operations Manager - Machine Division and communicate all matters or concerns pertaining to housekeeping and facility conditions
  • To supervise all Manufacturing staff (as assigned) with respect to recruiting, selection and hiring, orientation, attendance, safety, Workers’ Compensation, progressive discipline, employee relations, performance appraisal, salary administration, training and development, delegation of specific responsibilities and employee dismissal.
  • Complies with annual budgets, strategic plans, estimates, forecasts, statistics, analysis and financial information in conjunction with ongoing business requirements, priorities, policies and procedures.
  • To effectively co-ordinate and administer the company Performance Appraisal Process and Merit Rating System and approve recommendations with respect to employee ratings within the department.
  • To liaise and collaborate with Senior Managers, Line and Non-Management staff at all levels in an advisory capacity on matters pertaining to manufacturing activities within the company, specifically:
  • To manage the production of all products with all production personnel (3 shift operation) with respect to quality, technology, training, maintenance, safety and the environment.
  • Complete all Quality corrective actions as required
  • Enforce the LEAN and 5S methodology throughout the organization
  • Participate in all CIP implementations on the shop floor and promote the process
  • To conduct Daily production meetings, review schedules, back-orders, break-downs and maintenance issues.
  • To prepare, file and maintain production reports related to the number of units produced, quality records, experimental product, reject reports, specialized product data / information, as well as completing new product forms.
  • To work with the Weld Tech Centre in the development and testing of product.
  • To oversee the packaging of finished goods and movement of finished product to the warehouse.
  • To check inventory levels with the Production Control Department and conduct weekly audits of finished inventory reviewing finished product information for sales and discrepancies.
  • Update and continually maintain books related to:
  • Machine Manufacturing Set-ups
  • E.W. Specification
  • S.S.W. Procedures
  • Product Changes and Revisions
  • ISO 9000 (procedures, book, file and records)
  • To co-ordinate annual plant shut-down and schedule maintenance activities, logistics, and plant shut-up.
  • To administer and manage the piece work ticket system, distribution of tickets, as well as review and maintain up-to-date piece work records.
  • To manage the production of all products with all production personnel (3 shift operation) with respect to quality, technology, training, maintenance, safety and the environment.
  • Review and complete all employee time and attendance and vacation planning
  • Complete all employee overtime approval for weekly submission
  • Ensure shop floor WIP is held to a minimum
  • To conduct daily production meetings, review schedules, back-orders, break-downs and maintenance issues.
  • To prepare, file and maintain production reports related to the number of units produced, quality records, experimental product, reject reports, specialized product data / information, as well as completing new product forms.
  • To work with the Weld Tech Centre in the development and testing of product.

  • Participate in all inventory counts
  • To ensure safety, product quality, productivity standards and cost-efficiency objectives are met.

What We Expect You To Have:

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Excellent people skills, team work, team building, coaching or mentoring experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Scientific post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Metal working background, machining, welding, forming, painting
  • Ability to use Telephone, Calculator, Desktop Computer, Photocopier, Forklift, 2 way Radio/ Phone, Basic CNC Knowledge, Overhead Crane, Power Tool Operation, CIM, SAP, Excel
