Automation Technician - Guelph, Ontario

We are looking for an Automation Technician to join our team at our brand-new indoor state of the art facility based in Guelph, Ontario. The Automation Technician will be responsible for the following:

  • Identity, develop and improve automated processes;
  • Provide support to the Automation & Control Manager, the Farm Manager and the Vertical Farming technicians with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues;
  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems;
  • Monitor automated systems regularly and ensure that problems are identified, and repairs are performed in a timely manner;
  • Determine if the issue at hand is mechanical, electrical or as a result of the computer systems controlling the process and troubleshoot accordingly;
  • Support the Farm’s functionality and continuity by acting as the automation equipment operator;
  • Ensure the safety of automation equipment at all times;
  • Take part in inspecting and maintaining automation equipment, and keep records of inspections and alterations;
  • Apply safety standards and regulations for automation equipment, and practise safe work methods;
  • Maintain, repair and troubleshoot control systems;
  • Comprehend, communicate and present technical information effectively;
  • Schedule and implement preventive maintenance systems’
  • Other related tasks as determined necessary by business needs;

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Formal technical or engineering education. A diploma in Mechanical Technology- Automation & Robotics, Electro-mechanical Technology, or Automation Engineering Technology is preferred;
  • 1-3 years of technical hands-on experience

  • General knowledge of plant / food and beverage processing operations
