JOB SUMMARY: As a valued member of the team, the Guest Attendant demonstrates a commitment to resident safety by providing quality care in accordance with organization’s vision and mission.
The Guest Attendant is accountable to the Resident Care Manager for the provision of hospitality style dining services, support with activities of daily living and housekeeping services as assigned utilizing customer service principles that strive to provide exceptional service at all times. This role may also assist with recreation program support in varying locations. The Guest Attendant is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.
Participates in admission orientation and the transfer process of residents as directed; Works with other departmental personnel to ensure continuity of care; Cooperates with and assists all outside agencies that work in the home;
Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service;
Completes all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignment;
Communicates with Diretor of Wellness about problems related to resident care and/or safety;
Transports residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and
Answers phone calls utilizing the prescribed script & ensures that messages are communicated effectively to marketing team members or Administration as applicable; Notifies the General Manager / Director of Wellness of any team members/resident incidents and completes documentation as required;
Ensures that own personal grooming is appropriate and uniform/dress is clean, tidy and according to dress code;
Maintains all areas of the building in a tour ready manner;
Greet all visitors in a positive and supportive manner requesting if they need assistance of any kind;
Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents' families and reports any concerns / complaints to the supervisor;
Promotes and maintains positive communication and relationships with all team members;
Demonstrates personal attributes and communication skills that foster customer satisfaction at all times.
Advises supervisor or designate immediately of all team members incidents that may result in an Occupational Accident Claim, any concerns with the physical plant, incidents or injuries and completes required reports;
Follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents;
Wears personal protective equipment as designated;
Maintains a clean, safe environment for residents utilizing infection control principles;
Maintains a sound working knowledge of their role & responsibilities during all Emergency situations when working different shifts;
Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
Perform other duties as required.
Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
Current guest attendant training recommended;
Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process;
Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
Minimum grade 12 education.
Interaction with male and female residents of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds;
Combination of natural light and fluorescent lighting;
Exposure to the elements (external building and property);
Exposure to variable temperatures both hot and cold;
Lifting alone and with assistance;
Crouching, kneeling, stooping/bending for short periods of time;
Walking and climbing stairs frequently;
Standing for long periods of time;
Engagement and/or exposure to various therapy programs focused on providing residents with the highest quality of life in our Homes including but not limited to pet therapy, spiritual events and musical therapy.
