Responsibilities

Client Services:
Conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client.
Provides spiritual guidance and uses every opportunity to pray with and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clients/families, enabling them to become part of the Body of Christ.
Through exercising empathetic care, assists individuals to determine an appropriate and mutually agreed upon goal process; facilities effective problem solving behaviours of the client/family.
Provides emergency assistance series (i.e., housing shelter, food clothing, etc.) in accordance with policy.
May provide budget guidance and/or trusteeship services for clients.
Networks and refers to The Salvation Army, government and community social services providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program, when necessary.
Coaches and mentors clients in navigating systems to achieve personal goals (eg. Writing letter to utilities/landlords, etc.)
May develop and conduct workshops for clients/families as appropriate
May organize seasonal or special programs (i.e., Christmas Hamper, toy distribution, summer camps, food drivers, community dinners, etc.)
May be required to attend events for the purpose of providing information regarding Family Services (eg. Seniors fair, Early childhood Education fairs, etc.)
Directs and supervises volunteers, which include recruitment, selection, orientation, training, evaluation and discipline
Attends interagency meetings to network and partner with other service agencies.
Supervises and orientates individuals from Correctional Services of Canada on the Work Release Program
Receives (and/or declines) and sorts/organizes non-monetary donations.

Administrative/General office:
Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area.
Provides input into the operational budget; may be responsible for cash management
Answers telephones, doors and performs other administrative duties as directed
Qualifications
Education and/or experience in social work
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to serve as knowledgeable resource
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Excellent written and spoken communication skills· Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and coaching skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to present information effectively in a group setting for training purposes
Ability to work within the mandate of and embrace the mission of The Salvation Army
The successful incumbent will be required to complete/provide:

Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening
Valid First Aid certificate
The Salvation Army on-line certification for abuse prevention
Clear internal abuse registry check
Participate in mandatory yearly training
Hours of Work: 32 hours per week; Monday- Thursday 8:30 – 16:30
