The Master of Counselling program emphasizes: application of theory to practice and the development of skills in case conceptualization, ethical awareness, appreciation of diversity, and self-awareness. Using a cohort learning model, students complete their program of studies over a three year period, primarily via Saturday classes, while providing the opportunity to maintain their employment. These learners are mature, conscientious, and dedicated to maximizing the learning opportunities provided by the faculty members.
In collaboration with the Faculty/Program Site Coordinator, the Faculty/Program Internship Coordinator is responsible for aspects of internship coordination of the Master of Counselling program offered in Victoria, B.C.. Reporting to the Faculty/Program Coordinator of Counselling Psychology, the Faculty/Program Internship Coordinator helps ensures quality and integrity of the program at our learning location in Victoria. The Faculty/Program Internship Coordinator coordinates internship programs, provides proactive student support, develops teaching faculty, participates in curriculum and course development, teaches core courses and is actively engaged in academic governance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates the internship process, including practicum courses and internship placements, provides liaison between site supervisors, students, and the university.
Provides proactive student support, participates in curriculum and course development, teaches 2 - 4 courses per academic year and is actively engaged in academic governance.
Development of Teaching Faculty:
Responsible for hiring and developing practicum practitioner faculty. In collaboration with the Program Coordinator and the Curriculum and Faculty Development Support Services staff, provide orientation, training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluation for teaching faculty to foster a respectful, empowering learning environment.
Fosters and promotes teaching excellence for practitioner faculty.
Proactively support students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals.
Currency and Scholarship:
Engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as applied or original research.
Curriculum Development and Review:
Participate in developing curriculum that is in alignment with the CityU Academic Model and that focuses on application and current practice. Participate in developing new program offerings and in evaluating and updating existing programs, as well as provide course quality oversight. Work with adjunct faculty to ensure that academic programs are being taught as intended by providing feedback and sharing best practices.
To become a part of our City University of Seattle Master of Counselling team in Canada you must have the following qualifications:
Doctorate degree required at the time of hire or within six months of start date; degree in Psychology or Counselling Psychology preferred.
R.C.C.,or Psychologist preferred.
Professional experience in the counselling psychology profession including supervision; experience with psychology certification standards and benchmarks, and/or professional membership and active participation in related professional organizations.
Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in higher education management and adult education preferred.
Additional Information:Hiring Range:
The hiring range is an annualized salary of CAD $80,000 - $85,000. In addition to salary, there is a benefit package which includes tuition waiver, medical/dental/vision/life and disability plans, paid holidays and other paid leaves.
