Position Summary
Pacific Coast Express Limited has openings at our Surrey location for Shunt Truck Drivers. The positions are important support roles in the operations department.
AM shift: Monday to Friday, hours to be determined during the hiring process
PM shift: Monday to Friday, hours to be determined during the hiring process
Description & Responsibilities
· Move trailers to and from the dock doors
· Park and organize equipment in the yard
· Conduct a yard check which includes recording trailer numbers, fuel levels, trailer contents, and seal numbers
· Seal trailers and verify security bolt seal number
· Ensure yard is clean and operated in a safe manner
· Assist highway and city drivers with locating, positioning and other equipment requirements
· Regularly assist in the warehouse
· Moving and handling of large and cumbersome shipments in a warehouse environment (50-75 lbs.)
· Operate a Forklift in congested areas
· Vigilant to observe and report any incidents of safety violation or security breaches
· Other related duties as may be required
Experience and Qualifications
· Minimum of secondary education
· Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred, with at least 1-year experience driving a shunt truck is preferred.
· LTL (less than truckload) experience.
· Class 1 license preferred but not necessary with applicable experience
· Forklift Certification
· Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Prior industrial work experience is an asset for this position
The working conditions can include a dock environment (close proximity to moving vehicles and equipment) and exposure to outside weather conditions. Physical activity such as climbing in and out of the cab of trucks, bending, stretching, lifting, and kneeling for extended periods of time may be required. Following all company expectations to promote a safe work environment and performing all work safely in a fast-paced work environment is critical. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
