Under the general supervision of the Director, Patient Services or designate, the incumbent provides leadership for the healthcare team in promoting patient centered care and is responsible for: ensuring that adequate human and material resources are available to support the 24-hour delivery of safe, quality patient care; creating an environment that enables the Facility/Region to fulfill its mission and performance goals; promoting and maintaining a positive, professional, team oriented and service conscious environment; and demonstrating a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.
Minimum three years current, relevant clinical experience and minimum one-year leadership experience in a healthcare setting required.
A Baccalaureate degree in a relevant healthcare profession or a diploma in a relevant healthcare profession with a non healthcare Baccalaureate Degree (e.g. Arts, Science, etc.) required/ Masters preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Should a candidate without a Baccalaureate degree be the successful candidate, that individual will be required to complete a degree within a five-year period in order to remain in the position.
If the Baccalaureate degree is not in a relevant healthcare profession (as stated above), the successful candidate will be required to complete either a Baccalaureate degree ( or Graduate degree) in a relevant field of study within a five-year period, in order to remain in the position.
Successful completion of relevant post-graduate training may be required or preferred, in designated areas.
Formal management training preferred.
Competency in managing technology in healthcare systems.
Qualifications and Skills
Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
Regional/site/unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines relating to: clinical care, administrative, financial, and human resource management.
Standards and scope of practice for direct reports.
Personal Health Information Act, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
Continuum of Services/Community Resources.
Risk Management Strategies.
Quality Improvement Processes.
Relative Collective Agreements.
Principals of delegation.
Roles and responsibilities of the healthcare team.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with WRHA policy.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
