Little House Technologies is looking to add 1 full-time Accounting Clerk/Accounting Assistant to our growing bookkeeping team.

Job Duties

  • Execute full cycle bookkeeping for LHT clients
  • Working in a paperless environment
  • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances / filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
  • Prepare T4s, T4As and Records of Employment
  • Set up client files and assist with the completion of budgets and other administrative planning and completion aspects of accounting work
  • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accurately
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS) / system uploads
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errors
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work with cloud accounting software, including QBO, Xero, Wave Accounting and other cloud-based applications, providing support to our clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop an understanding of LHT’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Attend internal LHT courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of financial reports an asset
  • Established communication skills in verbal and written format especially emails
  • Data entry experience: attention to detail
  • Ability to administer and understand full cycle accounting in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on manual and computerized system(s)
  • Working knowledge of trial balances, general ledger (GL) databases, financial statement close processes and accounting matters
  • Completion of a certificate or diploma in Accounting is an asset
  • Experience with Hubdoc, Receipt Bank, and or similar an asset but not required
  • Ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
  • Strong computer literacy including advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Accounting Diploma not required but preferred
  • Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk or Accounts payable clerk
