As a member of our Infrastructure group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various infrastructure projects, such as: roadways, highways and interchanges; bridges and overpasses; water and wastewater treatment facilities; transmission lines; general/public transportation including airports, seaports and light rail transit lines (LRTs); and conventional and alternative power generation like wind farms and district energy facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).
About The Role
As a key member of the Western Canada Infrastructure team, the Senior Operations Manager will be leading Industrial Projects reporting into the General Manager for Alberta.
As a Senior Operations Manager at Graham you will:
Support and empower Project Managers and other direct reports to execute projects on time and on budget
Establish and maintain relationships with public and private sector clients, construction joint-venture partners, financing partners, key specialist sub-contractors, as well as other stakeholders such as design teams, suppliers and user groups that reflect and support Graham core values
Oversee the sub-contracting process, which includes facilitating initial scope review meetings, finalizing agreed processes, developing subcontract scopes of work, and managing the subcontract distribution and final execution process
Develop and recommend short-term operating budgets, and assists the Vice President with longer-term planning
Be accountable to ensure that project schedules, milestone dates and closeout checklists are prepared and maintained during the project lifecycles
Oversee project administration and operations
Be able to provide clear direction, targets and provide strong leadership to the construction team, designers and sub-contractors
Plan, organize, direct and have the ability to look at alternative techniques to achieve target and budgets
Lead staff development which includes: mentoring, training, coaching, and professional development
Review and approval all Operations Unit tender submissions
Ensure quality in all work for clients, and demonstrate a strong commitment to HSEQ
Reviewing all Operations labour cost reports and forecasts; looking for early warning signs of trouble, developing plans and implements action to improve project outcomes
Monthly review with Project Managers of all operations projects, project cost analysis and forecasted costs
Civil or Structural Engineering degree or related technical degree
At least 5 years construction industry experience in a Senior Management level position
Must have a minimum of 8 years' experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams on infrastructure projects working for a General Contractor
Experience working on infrastructure projects valued between $5M - $25M
Ideally have some P&L experience
Oil sands or mine sites experience with focus on heavy earthworks, industrial site utilities is preferred
Detailed understanding of all aspects of construction: technology, equipment, materials, bid management, claims management and safety
