As a Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting both the corporate and business unit (BU) safety management. Primary duties include:

Develop strategies and objectives for the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS); Support development and implementation of the corporate OHSMS; Work with BU leadership teams to provide coaching, mentoring, training and orientation support and coordination.
Provide incident management, emergency response planning and hazard assessment oversight and direction for Supervisors and Managers.
Provide ongoing communication related to the OHSMS, corporate initiatives and key performance indicators for BU management teams.
Assist with managing contractors including prequalifying, reviewing safety plans, monitoring and guidance for the contract managers.

Working Conditions: Occasional exposure to outdoor worksites.

Qualifications
One year certificate related to the position (Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Project Management, Change Management, Communications, Adult Learning, or related certificate).
A minimum of 5 years of safety related experience or combination of project or leadership managing safety in an operational or capital construction function , specifically in large organizations with multiple stakeholders and implementing large programs. Experience with construction projects delivering major infrastructure developments is preferred.
A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits.
Use of a personal vehicle for business purposes is required.
The following are considered to be assets: A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Engineering, Health and Safety or related discipline.
Related certifications such as Construction Safety Officer (CSO), Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) and completed or working towards a Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation (CRSP) will also be considered assets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong decision making skills, political acumen, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
Experience in large organizations dealing with multiple stakeholders and implementing large programs.
Experience with project and change management, training, auditing, investigating and technical writing.

Pre-employment Requirements

Must be able to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit .
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test:
An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation : Pay Grade 12 $42.06 - 56.23 per hour
Days of Work : This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Non-Standard 40 hour work week
