This is a permanent, part-time position based on 3 to 15 hours per week. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.
Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:45 am to 5:15 pm, Saturday 8:45 – 4:15 pm. This position works most Saturdays.
Normal location of work is at Listowel Thrift Store, 272 Main Street East, Listowel, Ontario N4W 2B7.

Maintain customer service standards, provide service to customers and greet them when entering the store.
Accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales, with minimal voids, overages, or shortages.
Adhere to store policy regarding refunds, voids and holds.
Contribute to meeting store sales targets, provide efficient courteous customer service: use tact and courtesy when dealing with difficult customers.
Inform the supervisor of all customer complaints, comments and concerns regarding customer service, prices, merchandise etc.
Pay particular attention to store security, by monitoring activity within the store.
Maintain an attractive organized appearance of the store, tidy, restock shelves, clean, sweep, dust, and mop as necessary.
Contribute to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, and clean spillage).
Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner, assist in stock rotation.
Replenish inventory levels based on supervisor’s directions.
Maintain the proper sorting and processing of all donated goods, ensure compliance with quality standards; that all products are priced correctly as per store policy.
Work with volunteers as assigned.
Perform other position related duties as assigned.
Completed Secondary School
Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in a retail environment preferred.
Cash handling experience is required.
Knowledge and experience using a cash register, and interact is a definite asset.
Basic math skills required to calculate discounts and percentages as well as reading skills.
Requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting, kneeling.
Ability to lift/move on a regular basis up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work as part of a productive team and/or independently as required.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Self-motivated/disciplined and able to work as part of a team.
Able to work most Saturdays.
Provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
