The Database as a Service team is an integral part of Oracle Cloud Foundation Services (CFS). CFS provides a Micro-Services Platform (MSP), Operations Stack (OST), and Software Delivery as a Service (SDaaS) pipeline to support high margin, highly elastic, and highly available Software as a Service (SaaS) applications into Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

Cloud Foundation Services (CFS) provides critical cloud services for multiple Oracle Global Business Unit applications. Oracle’s second generation Infrastructure as a Service, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), provides improved performance and reliability. Oracle GBUs already have over a thousand customers awaiting migration onto OCI in addition to new customer wins. Applications from Retail, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Communications, Health Sciences, Financial Services, Construction & Engineering, and Utilities business sectors, require 24x7 support.

Additionally, most engineers globally have weekends off during normal working schedules and customer support is required during these periods. In general, there will be a Primary and Secondary engineer designated in advance to provide coverage for select services. If numerous services are supported in a specific geographic region there may be more than one set of Primary / Secondary engineers selected. Software engineers and database administrators will engage in activities to restore services that are down or degraded. This may be as simple as running an existing script to restart a service, executing a standard operating procedure, or may require codes changes with review steps, integration, testing, and software deployments to restore a service to normal operation. In addition engagement with other Oracle development and support teams may be needed.
