Founded in 1988, Casey House is a 14-bed, sub-acute specialty hospital under the Public Hospital Act. Casey House provides a continuum of care in a home-like environment for adults living with HIV/AIDS through a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Position: Special Events Coordinator
Reports to: Manager, Special Events
Status: Full-time, Temporary (12 month contract)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Weekend/evening work as required)
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Plus additional compensation of 13% percentage in lieu of benefits and 6% vacation pay.
Reporting to the Manager, Special Events, the Special Events Coordinator plays an integral role in ensuring Casey House events are well organized and executed successfully. Working alongside the Foundation team, along with external stakeholders - the Special Events Coordinator with utilize their passion, skills and industry experience to elevate organization events through coordinating with vendors, assisting with event set-up, logistics, and being the forefront liaison for all guests.
Casey House will mark 2020 with several significant milestones: remounting June’s HIV+ Eatery, a pop-up restaurant featuring HIV positive individuals-turned-cooks; participation in Doors Open Toronto; a parade float at PRIDE Toronto; the 27th anniversary of the premier Canadian contemporary art auction Art with Heart; and the expansion of Voices for World AIDS Day, a variety show concert demonstrating support for people living with HIV/AIDS.
1. Minimum 2 years of experience as an event coordinator or a related field.
2. Degree in hospitality management, public relations or a related field is an asset.
3. Existing vendor relationships is an asset.
4. Experience managing budgets and expense tracking.
5. Demonstrated ability to organize workload and respond to competing priorities in a busy, dynamic environment.
6. Self-motivated, decisive, responsible, and driven to provide the best service.
7. Strong attention to detail.
8. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
9. Advanced knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
