Facilitator/Employment Counsellor(s) required for full-time position(s) available in the GTA.


  • Interview clients to obtain employment and educational history and determine program suitability
  • Provide employment/career counselling to clients
  • Facilitation of Workplace Essential Skills, Career/Life Skills, Basic Technology Skills and Job Search Training workshops
  • Resume/cover letter writing and facilitation of mock interviews
  • Job development required to match job seekers with employers, for paid and unpaid opportunities
  • Identify barriers/solutions to assist clients in re-entering the workforce
  • Complete Transferable Skills Analysis based on client’s education/ training, work experience and interests
  • Administer and interpret tests designed to determine client aptitudes and abilities
  • Develop and co-ordinate action plans to assist clients in their return to work goals and moving closer towards the labour market
  • Identify barriers to employment and assist clients in developing job readiness skills and job search strategies
  • Act as a liaison between the client and referral source to assist in the implementation of recommendations
  • Meet target outcomes as per program requirements, by ensuring the transitioning of client’s in post-program activities, inclusive of training or employment


  • Experience in employment counselling, facilitation and job development
  • BA Degree or College Diploma in employment counselling, career development or in related field such as psychology, education, or social services.

One of the following or eligible/working towards one of the following is an asset:

  • Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP); Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP); York-Seneca Rehabilitation Service Program Certificate; or related credential/education
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, administrative, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
  • Experience composing reports and computer literacy in MS Office, Internet and Outlook in the Windows environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian labour market conditions, practices, trends, job search strategies and techniques
  • Strong outreach and team work skills
  • Ability to document information, maintain accurate records and complete reports
  • Proven ability/sensitivity in working with a diverse population of clients with barriers to employment
  • Vehicle and valid drivers’ license and insurance required for travel within the region
