Job Description and Responsibilities

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our growing team in Regina to provide a combination of technical oversight and project management. This is a technical leadership position that coordinates engineering disciplines in charge of design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of new and modified equipment and/or automation systems. This position critically reviews interfaces between disciplines and/or project stakeholders and deals with both technical, budgetary and scheduling aspects of projects.

Manage the engineering group and ensure members are taking a holistic view of the project scope and involving required disciplines as necessary.
Develop an engineering deliverable list and project schedule with contractors
Ensures process and equipment specifications align with project goals
Facilitates technical project discussions and reviews with other management functions within the project organization and across functions in the EVRAZ organization
Ensures proper execution of engineering coordination procedures including formal design review procedures and process planning methods
Reviews all equipment interfaces to ensure they are properly defined and designed throughout the process. These include foundations, anchoring, power, controls, interconnecting piping, process water, gases, fluid power among others
Ensures timely approval of engineering and requisitioning documents as well as timely technical and economical definition of change orders and/or claims
Contributes to schedule preparation, actively controls schedule execution and proposes corrective actions when needed
Ensures coordination of interfaces among engineering disciplines and with procurement, construction, vendors
Manages the development of the technical teams he supervises ensuring appropriate skill assessment and development plans are in place
Ensure that project documentation is stored securely and effectively in accordance with project requirements

Job Requirements

University Engineering degree in either Mechanical or Electrical disciplines (preferred) and 5+ years of experience
Good knowledge of steel processes and tubular products
Experience facilitating and solving quality problems including, 8D with Root Cause Analysis, bringing in ideas and buy-in from interdepartmental groups
Understanding of control logic programming languages and tools
Demonstrated ability to follow standards in automation and control software discipline
Experience leading teams including technical oversight and performance management
Experience developing, reporting and presenting ideas and projects to various levels of management and customers
Demonstrated experience working with customers, inspectors, bargaining unit members and management staff within a production environment
Experience in statistical data analysis and process analysis
Strong attention to detail
Proficient in MS Office suite of programs
Good communication, time management and report writing skills
Six-sigma green belt or better qualifications, an asset
Project Management Institute Certification, an asset
