The duties of a Grounds Person include, but are not limited to, the following:
Individual shall perform various duties within an asphalt plant to ensure operations run smoothly which include, maintaining excellent housekeeping around the plant by shoveling and sweeping. Also, performing repair/maintenance under the direction of plant foreman or lead hand.
Assist the plant operator with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
Use heavy equipment (skid steer, loader, aerial work platform, tele handler) to perform various tasks.
May require considerable physical activity, must be capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting
Assist with a variety of job operations
Ensure the safety of company personnel, the community, and environment
Responsible for completing daily equipment checklist
Create an atmosphere of teamwork
Seek out and implement Best Practices
Safety & Environment:
Adhere to all company safety and environmental practices and policies – training provided
All spills must be first contained and the proper authorities notified immediately thereafter (follow written procedure)
Operate and perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment including, includes washing and cleaning the operator’s cab inside and out, greasing, refueling, and maintaining all fluid levels
Daily greasing and plant clean up.
Responsible for updating and maintaining all equipment service records for any piece of equipment operated, keeping accurate and thorough records of the maintenance performed, the hours on the unit, date, time, etc.; complete proof of regular service may be required
Experience is an asset.
Contribute toward the overall success of the safety program by following set rules procedures and practices
Identify and report workplace hazards and make positive suggestions for their elimination or control
Generally, perform duties in the safest manner prescribed
Required PPE must be worn at all times
This position will require weekend work and may include night shifts. The position often requires overtime and working in all types of climate
Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
