The SHC is an innovative concept that is more than a “hospital.” It is built in a campus environment and includes inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health education and learning opportunities for community members. The campus also includes wellness facilities with partners such as a YMCA, as well as retail and commercial partnerships. The hospital adheres to four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centred Care and Innovation. These pillars are the key philosophical principles used in the development and service of all care to patients and families at SHC. Within the Women’s Health program, SHC has implemented a new and exciting approach to family centered and maternity care: Single Room Maternity Care (SRMC). We are currently recruiting Registered Nurses (RNs) to be part of our SRMC multidisciplinary team. An RN operating in a SRMC model, will require competence across the spectrum of antenatal, labour, delivery, postpartum (immediate and recovery period) and newborn care. In addition, the RN may have the exciting opportunity to work within the Women’s Health Outpatient Clinics. Outpatient services include: OB/Gyne procedure and recovery room, and Early Pregnancy Assessment clinic. The Women’s Health RN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation across a continuum of care, with the purpose of providing safe, quality care for women and families while reflecting the shared vision of SHC. The RN will be guided by their education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Alberta Health Services policies, procedures, and position description. The successful candidate will participate in a comprehensive 1 to 2 month orientation.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
