Residential Child and Youth Care Wworker evenings and weekends

Family Connections provides evidence-based group and 1:1 care services to vulnerable children and youth. We have an opportunity for energetic and passionate CYC workers to join our team in an Evening and weekend position. We provide therapeutic CYC care 24/7 and the overnight awake youthworker is an active and integral part of the Group Home Service Team.

In your role you will:

  • Connect with and develop helping relationships with children and youth with complex and challenging behaviors.
  • Provide relational, culturally-proficient care to children and youth from various cultures and religions, and remain sensitive to the unique needs of LGBTQ+ and Indigenous identified youth.
  • Work with the individual and their support teams to identify and achieve their goals.
  • Evaluate and respond to the needs of client in a timely, professional manner.
  • Completion of daily documentation in the form of log notes, critical incident reports and other professionally written reports as required.
  • Administer medication as required.
  • Participate in personal professional development and regular clinical supervision.
  • Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home.
  • Assist clients in the development of healthy life and social skills.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Bachelors or Diploma in Child and Youth Care.
  • Bachelors or Diploma in a related Human Services field may be considered as an equivalency.
  • Child and Youth Care Certification will be considered an asset.
  • Transporting youth as required - a Class 5 Drivers Permit and personal vehicle are required.

Training & Clearances

  • Understanding of Child and Youth mental health, Child and Youth Development and Trauma-informed practice
  • Security Clearance Check including the Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
  • Children Services Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR
  • Suicide Awareness or Suicide Intervention training
  • Cultural Awareness training
  • Medication administration training
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, as well as a driver’s abstract (within the last 6 months)
  • Auto Insurance, including $2 million third party liability coverage
  • Post-secondary level English and writing skills are required.

Required experience:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in direct Child and Youth Care service provision to vulnerable children and youth.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Experience with Non-violent Crisis Intervention would be an asset.


$18.00 to $20.00 depending on education and experience.
