Senior Pension Analyst

Our Senior Analyst works in a team and is responsible for administering capital accumulation plans for assigned clients and providing analytical and administration support to both clients and the team


Oversees and peer reviews work for analysts in the team
Participates in performance management for analysts; provides feedback and guidance on an ongoing basis
Attends internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends
Knowledgeable on year end requirements (types of tax slips) for Capital Accumulation Plans
Liaises with consultants, trust companies and investment manager representatives concerning clients’ Capital Accumulation Plans
Performs reconciliations on a monthly basis; reviews such for analysts
Processes interfund transfers, contributions, withdrawls and terminations for clients; reviews such for analysts
Process tax slips (PA, contribution receipts, T5, T3, NR4, etc.) on a quarterly or annual basis: reviews such for analyst
Provides regular and ad hoc reports for clients
Receives and responds to plan member and client inquiries and requests
Participates in client implementations; tests new functionalities for existing applications and new applications; contributes to the documentation process
Acts as a technical resource for the analysts
Keeps apprised of applicable new and existing pension, tax and securities legislation; shares knowledge with the team
Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained with every transaction
Maintains excellent relationships with members and clients, through regular telephone contact
Understands the client’s perspective and priorities
Acts as a back-up, responding to in-bound calls from members and clients
Participates on special projects as required

Succeeding as a Senior Pension Analyst will require the following core qualifications and skills

Two - five years of Pension Administration experience
CSC or IFIC designation or in progress
Post-secondary education and related courses in pension administration, group benefits (CEBS), finance and/or accounting
Proven capability at the Analyst level, DC Pension Administration
Strong knowledge of all provincial pension and tax legislation
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Dedicated team player with the ability to take the initiative and be independent
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
A good understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word and Excel.
Experience with pension administration software
