We are hiring RN or RPN Students who have completed the first year of their program as a personal support worker. As a Personal Support Worker (PSW) with Spectrum Health Care, you will be responsible for providing exceptional personal care to our patients in the Peel Region (Bolton, Brampton, Caledon, Milton & Mississauga). As a PSW with us, you will have an opportunity to provide exceptional care to enrich the lives of patients on a daily basis.
Providing personal care, hygiene, and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding etc)
Adhere to the safe work/risk management policies and procedures of Spectrum Health Care
Work within the Ethical Practice Framework of Spectrum Health Care
Understands the range of services provided by each division of the Spectrum family and how it contributes to our model of Total Care
Continually assesses, anticipates, identifies, and responds to new and changing needs of patients and communicates available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate
Performing any other delegated tasks facilitated by regulated health professionals in compliance with the Spectrum Home Support Supervisor
Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR (required)
Have one of the following qualifications (required):
Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved program
Home Support Worker (Level 2 or 3), or Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized curriculum with the understanding that workers are moving to 100% PSW status
Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse or Practical Nurse Diploma
RN/RPN Student who with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
Internationally trained Nurse, Midwife or Physician that is licensed to practice in their country of origin
Valid certificate as a Personal Attendant
Personal Support Worker (PSW) students (with successful completion of PA+2 level of training and verification of their transcript and household management experience)
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant
Graduate of Paramedic Program
Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely and for extended periods
Ability to lift 23 kilograms independently; ability to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting; able to reposition clients in bed
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
Valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check
Updated immunization record (TB test within 1 year)
Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
Flexible work schedule (Monday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday)
Valid G level driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle required to work in the Peel Region
