Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Safeworks Management Team, the Administrative Support III – Safeworks is responsible to provide reception, clerical and office duties to support the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre Supervised Consumption Services (SCS). High client volumes and multiple demands in this role requires strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily workload. Effective, sensitive and non-judgmental communication is a continuous demand of this position. The Administrative Support III – Safeworks position processes a high volume of public and client inquiries and is the initial contact point for all services offered at the SCS program. This role requires flexibility and the ability to troubleshoot and independently problem solve on a daily basis a variety of issues related to ordering and receiving supplies, distributing supplies to clients, invoicing, data entry, walk-ins/callers, couriers and mail delivery systems. Accuracy and efficiency are necessary in this role as data entered in the Safeworks database provides the information necessary for reporting. As the Administrative Support you will also be responsible for the delivery of harm reduction supplies, supporting supervised consumption clinical interventions (e.g. overdose response support), de-escalation techniques, working with an interdisciplinary team (e.g. nurses, paramedics, social work, peer support workers), Naloxone kit distribution, and referrals to other health & social services. About Safe Consumption Services: SCS are part of a range of evidence-based services that support prevention, harm reduction and treatment for Albertans living with substance use challenges. SCS provide a place where people can use drugs in a monitored, hygienic environment to reduce harm from substance use while offering additional services such as counselling, social work, and opioid.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Knowledge and operation of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Post Medical Terminology, Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk Specialty and/or Post-secondary education applicable to the position (e.g. social work, health care and psychology/sociology). Minimum typing speed of 40-50 wpm.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum one year within the last four years in Mental Health/Addictions/Emergency. Experience in Harm Reduction or Mental Health & Addictions or working with marginalized populations, particularly the homeless and people who use drugs. Experience in multi-patient care computer systems (E.g. Netcare, Accessdata base). Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training. Mental Health First Aid preferred. Knowledge of an Indigenous language will be considered an asset.
