Registered Dental Hygienist

Orthodontic and Periodontic Office

Seeking a vibrant Dental Hygienist to join our team! This position is a maternity leave position for 1 year. We are a well established fast paced orthodontic dental office with a specialty in periodontics.

The Orthodontic Hygienist is responsible for working with the orthodontist for adjustments, bondings, debonding, impressions, cementing/delivering appliances and giving orthodontic instructions. Works collaboratively with the Health Care Team to achieve and maintain optimal oral health.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the province of Ontario
  • Successful completion of accredited college dental hygiene program
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Team player
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Communicate in a timely, respectful and effective manner
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality in all aspects of the position

Key Responsibilities

  • Take and process digital x-rays
  • Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
  • Instruct patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
  • Patient charting & documentation
  • Greet client and accompany them from the waiting room to the treatment room
  • Review medical information with client
  • Ensure that records and treatment plans are recorded
  • Ensure that consent forms for treatment and release of information are signed as required
  • Perform orthodontic hygienist duties as instructed by the orthodontist
  • Complete oral hygiene instruction and demonstration as required
  • Offer recommendations to clients and/or families for treatment and home care
  • Responsible for inventory and preventative maintenance of some equipment and supplies
  • Taking part in teaching and evaluating dental assistant and hygiene placement students
  • Assist other team members when needed
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Certification/Licenses

  • Dental Hygienist License (required)
  • CPR and HARP Certified

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00 – 5:00
