We are currently seeking a Instructor for our Edmonton, AB location. Our HEO Instructors work in a professional field and college learning environment, where they instruct HEO operations and help to provide critical career training to develop potential students and prepare them for an HEO career. Delivering high quality instructions and ensuring successful student learning outcomes are met are key components for this front-line role.

You will use your experience to:
  • Deliver HEO training to the highest standard, meeting and/or exceeding IHE expectations
  • Ensure the highest safety standards are met in accordance with legislation and site policies
  • Ensure all site, instructor and student policies are adhered to
  • Conduct student evaluations daily (marking and grading) using tablets
  • Participate in daily toolbox safety meetings
  • Operate equipment for demonstration of tasks to students
  • Regularly check fuel levels, perform equipment audits, and equipment fueling as required
  • Conduct ERP drills as assigned and during an emergency be able to respond appropriately
  • Be creative, effective and implement variety of instruction techniques and communication types to meet the needs of our diverse student body and stakeholders
  • Proactively and regularly communicate updates and issues to team members and for lead hand (site, equipment, safety, student, curriculum)
  • Site opening and closing responsibilities as assigned by the lead hand or operations manager
  • Consistently demonstrate a professional code of conduct as an IHE ambassador
Must haves (minimum requirements):
  • 10 years of diverse HEO experience on multiple machines & sectors required
  • Appropriate certifications as well as a passion for instructing and mentoring in a professional college environment
  • Familiarity with technology, smart phones & tablets
  • GPS experience on machines an asset (TopCon)
  • Superior knowledge of industry practices in a variety of work sectors desired
  • Experience with technology and any formal instructional training is an asset
  • Must have all current and active safety tickets- H2S, Ground Disturbance and First Aid
