Reporting to the Care Manager, the Recovery Supports Worker (RSW) is an integrated member of an interdisciplinary team that facilitates the recovery process for individuals with addiction and/or mental health concerns. The RSW is responsible for assisting in planning, implementing and modifying a wide variety of program options and opportunities that promote well-being for individuals and groups. Programming is designed to promote hope, provide supported opportunities to develop practical skills and self-identity, facilitate the discovery of personal meaning in life, and promote connection and relationship building. The RSW works as a member of an integrated treatment team, delivering activities that aim to provide emotional and functional skill building opportunities. With a heavy emphasis on program provision, the successful candidate should be comfortable providing group based care, displaying excellent engagement skills. The candidate will be required to have a high comfort level with client intervention and mediation. Knowledge of existing community resources is an asset. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, self-motivated professional, with a friendly and open demeanor. Evening and weekend work is not currently within the scope of the program, but there are plans to build in such options for clients over the coming year.
As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related field or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Diploma from a health-related field is required. A degree would be preferred. A combination of experience and education will be considered. Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges (one to one or group setting). Experience facilitating recreation and leisure programming (one to one or group setting). CPR required.
Knowledge of community and/or Alberta Health Services Addiction and Mental Health resources, programs and services. Class V driver’s license.
