The GB Sponsor Insights and Underwriting Technology Support team is looking for a curious & motivated business and data inclined individual interested in data analysis + visualization, financial modeling and solving business problems and providing business application support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with members of a Business Intelligence squad, Business Application squad and members in the Group Benefits business to further enable data driven decisions internally, as well as provide analytics externally to customers.
The Business Analytics Specialist will be accountable to be a data domain subject matter expert, solving business problems with data, answering data inquiries, providing application support for an internal CRM tool and helping to further streamline the data infrastructure. This position will provide support to the Business Intelligence & Business Application squads via query support, data analysis & visualization, financial modeling, advanced trend analysis, data updates for the Business Applications and ad-hoc reporting.

Become a data domain subject matter expert while expanding Group Benefits business acumen
Create and support complex stored procedures/SSIS packages to extract and transform data for use in the DataMart, data analysis and process automation to improve turnaround time on data availability
Support ad-hoc requests for data & analysis from the business
Support in development and maintenance of an internal CRM tool from a data integrity and user maintenance aspect while providing custom data ad-hoc queries when requested.
Partner with Senior Analytics Specialist(s) to develop analytics methodologies
Tactical support of data validation, consolidation and cleansing processes
Explore and discover new data sources, and transform raw data extract through profiling, cleaning, mapping and validation with expert resources
Partner with the Advanced Analytics team of Data Scientists on various GB focused projects
Support communication between business and analytics as well as business implementation of analytics solutions -Input into the approach and Owns and manages assigned tasks.
Develops and implements ad-hoc and business analytics and reporting on projects of moderate scope
Own business requirement collection and review for selection of analytics solutions
Works on problems of moderate scope / complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
Strong ability to identify business opportunities for revenue generation, efficiency improvement in business operations/process and business insights extraction by leveraging analytics.
Provides analysis on complex business needs/requirements and identify potential analytics solutions or insights needed. (may require guidance from senior team members)
Effectively communicate analytics insights and solutions to business and facilitate/drive the execution/implementation
Education & Experience & Core Competencies :
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Math, Stats, Finance, Computer Science or quantitative discipline with 3-5 years of applicable experience or a combination of education and experience
Significant experience with
SQL, Stored Procedures and Views in Microsoft SQL Server 2012+
ETL processes using SSIS and other tools (open source, Informatica)
database analysis and management
thorough understanding of data analytics theory and application
ability to collaborate with internal business contacts while providing data analysis and management support
multidimensional and relational databases
Experience with visualization and BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau or QlikView
Knowledge of descriptive statistics, and use of appropriate charts and visuals for effective visualization/reporting
Experience in Python, R, VBA, Visual Studio is an asset
Applied understanding of data transformation to support BI Reporting
Has intimate understanding of the business value chain and customer lifecycle for the projects they are supporting. Has fundamental understanding of the business as a whole.
Understands company culture, cooperation & information sharing within the company
Establishes an internal network and leverages the network of more senior business analytics specialists
May begin to develop an external network.
Basic understanding of different techniques and knowledge of statistical and machine learning algorithms. Basic knowledge of AI toolkits.

Ability to explain technical concepts to the business and management. Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical resources.
Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite
Familiarity with predictive models and advanced analytics is an asset

Experience & Business knowledge in Financial Services and Group Benefits is a valuable asset
