The kind of things you'd be doing:
Plan, design and configure redundant systems, policies, and procedures for business continuity, disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective performance, protection and integrity of databases.
Document database design through data modeling, review design to ensure optimized data environments
Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels and audit controls
Configuration planning and installation of mostly Postgres 9.x databases
Troubleshooting and resolution of database/server problems
Backup and recovery of local and remote replicated databases
Provide day-to-day support to 24 * 7 * 365 production systems as assigned
Provide DBA support to development/implementation projects as assigned, doing installations, database loading, conversions, testing
Prepare change control documentation
Administer database security, establish security controls, and conduct audits

Ideal Qualifications:
University Degree in Computer Science
3 years equivalent work experience as a Database Administrator
Working experience with PostgreSQL, Mysql, MongoDB, SQL Server SSIS/SSRS
Strong understanding of database capacity planning, structures, theories, principles, and best practices
Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience
Working experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible or Chef will be a strong asset
Stored procedures & functions, PL/SQL, SQL scripting, ETLs and data loads
Application side tuning and server side tuning
Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers
SStreaming replication , database rebuild / defragment techniques, logical & physical backup / recovery techniques,
Database monitoring with tools like Datadog, New Relic, etc.
Experience with Database as a service in a cloud like environment (AWS, GCP, etc.), Kubernetes and Docker will be a strong asset
Experience with clustering, pooling, and load balancing would be considered an asset
Experience Unix Scripting
Good analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Quick learner, with good interpersonal and communication skill
