As a Seasonal Parks Labourer/Maintenance Worker you will perform a variety of duties individually and also as a member of a crew under the direction of a crew lead, gardener, or foreman. Primary duties may include:
Cut and rake grass, as well as lay and remove sod.
Use self-propelled mower and weed-eater with a harness.
Water plants and plant trees, shrubs and annuals.
Construct and/or repair fences and equipment, and dig holes and trenches.
Complete basic maintenance and painting.
Pick up litter and general cleanup.
Control pests and weeds using a variety of methods.
Working Conditions: These positions require physically demanding work in all types of working and weather conditions. May be exposed to dust, dirt, fertilizers, and/or pesticides.
A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
A High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) will be considered an asset.
Previous horticulture experience (for example: landscape maintenance), construction work and the use of power tools will also be considered assets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated customer focus and the ability to work with and assist team members.
Proven safety awareness and dependability for completing all aspects of the job.
Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills.
Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

Pre-employment Drug Test:
An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis.
