We are currently seeking a Training Advisor to join our highly professional and dynamic Human Resources department at our Touquoy Operations working 5 days on, 2days off, roster drive in drive out.

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, your role will be to ensure the availability of training to ensure competency of employees and to provide the tools to allow their ongoing development.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in a similar role preferably in a mining or industrial setting.

Our Opportunity

Contribute to the implementation of the Company’s Training & Development System including training needs analysis; training plans; materials design and development; management of the Training Management System (TMS) and ensure compliance with St Barbara’s – Training, Competency and Behavior for the Nova Scotia Operations.

  • Assisting with the audit preparation and reporting for Training, Competency and Behaviour
  • Conducting training needs analysis scoping and preparing training plans in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Ensuring contractors on site are qualified, licenced and complete all necessary inductions
  • Managing the site induction program ensuring compliance and statutory requirements are met for all Personnel
  • Managing the Training Management System (TMS) ensuring training records are entered, maintained and reported;
  • Assisting site personnel in the design and development of training materials as per the Company’s Brand and Style Guide and the Training & Development System
  • Reporting all training and development conducted on and off site as per the HR Monthly Report
  • Liaising with stakeholders with respect to scheduling of training and development programs
  • Facilitating workshops as required
  • Conducting training and development evaluation as required

About You

Our successful candidate will have solid experience in a similar role and be a strong communicator. The successful candidate will also have:

  • Behavior consistent with St Barbara’s Values;
  • Current, valid Driver’s License;
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Relevant work experience, with experience in gold mining highly regarded;
  • Willingness and ability to work in a mine site setting;
  • University degree or college diploma in adult education, human resources or related discipline
  • CPHR or working towards designation
