Senior Contract Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting contracts and ensuring compliance with contract terms and scope of work
  • Participate in project review meetings, ensuring scope of work is managed accordingly and project milestones are achieved based on the terms of the contracts
  • Evaluating/negotiating commercial aspects of Work Plan submissions; processing Work Plan Releases
  • Administering payment process including negotiating contact price breakdowns, progress payments, preparing/processing Certificates of Payment and assessing back charges
  • Assessing the validity of proposed changes/amendments/claims
  • Processing Requests for Quotes, Contract Amendments/Changes and Change Directives
  • Evaluating and preparing analysis of contractor's submissions for changes and claims
  • Analyzing rationale for contract changes/claims and implementing claims mitigation strategies
  • Negotiating or chairing negotiations to establish acceptable settlement of price and terms for changes and claims with contractors as well as coordinating support from other departments
  • Attending progress and project review meetings as required
  • Preparing and issuing letters and memoranda regarding commercial/contractual matters
  • Providing weekly written reports to senior management on difficult or problematic contracts
  • Processing documentation for contract close out
  • Preparing reports on contractor's performance and maintaining contract files
  • Preparing an analysis as to the nature and value of contract amendments/changes at the completion of each contract

Qualifications Required:

  • Relevant educational degree or suitable post secondary education, preferably in law, business administration, engineering or equivalent experience in related field
  • Minimum 5 years of related Contract Administration experience; experience working on large multi-billion-dollar construction projects (Transit experience is preferred)
  • Experience managing complex, high dollar value contracts
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and claims management
  • Requires strong communications skills
